Behr Paints

Skkra recommends… Behr Paints!

This seems like a ridiculous recommendation in a way, but I know that a lot of my loyal readers have recently purchased or are looking to purchase a home.  Well, ol’ Skkra did the same thing a few years ago, and I painted the whole hour with some quality Behr paints.  And you know what?  They’re A+.BehrPaints

Not only do the colors look great, but they haven’t faded one bit.  A single coat was all that I needed, too, so it didn’t cost me a fortune.  I’ve used their paints both inside and out – my front door is painted with Behr as well, and despite living in the northeast USA where it’s constantly battered by varied and sometimes extreme weather, it still looks as great as the day I painted it.

I wonder why their slogan isn’t something like “you can’t Behr to be without them!”

Skkra recommends… EZPass!

If you drive a car, you should have an EZPass.  It’s as simple as that.  The only good reason I can see for not having one is that you worked as a toll taker before and don’t want to see the profession be phased out.  That, or you enjoy having your highway trips take extra long.

The backups that occasionally happen near tolls because of the sheer number of idiots who didn’t bother to get an EZPass continually boils my blood.  It’s 2017.  And heck, the technology is not remotely new.

You’ve had well over a decade to take the 5 minutes required to sign up, and you still haven’t done it?  Well, kill yourself.  I personally believe that the non-EZPass lanes should just quietly divert those cars into a trash compactor.  But Skkra, you whine, what about any other passengers in their car who do have an EZPass, but just happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time?  Nope.  They deserve a swift death, too – you should know better than to associate with anyone who doesn’t have one.

London Fog

Skkra recommends… London Fog coats!

If you want to look great, grab a Fog.  That’s how I’ve always done it, and how I’ll always do it.

I had this comfortable, warm, delightful brown London Fog coat.  I got it somewhere around the start of college – that was late 2000 for me – and I retired it two weeks ago, because it had finally worn out.  That’s value, god damn it.

I got compliments on that coat everywhere I went.  People would stop me in the street and say, god damn, that gorgeous coat fits you perfectly!  I bet it’s warm as hell, too!  It was.

Luckily, a new era has arisen, and I’ve traded brown for black.  This new black coat is just as warm as my previous beloved brown coat, and I’ll be damned if I don’t look sharp as hell.  So do yourself a favor this winter, and upgrade to a London Fog coat if you haven’t already.

Mustard Instant Coasters

Skkra recommends… Mustard brand “instant coasters!”

I found these the other day, and they’re awesome.  They’re coasters, except they look like a Polaroid.  The back of the coaster is actually a sleeve, and it fits a 3.3 x 3.3 inch picture.

MustardInstantCoastersThere isn’t much to say about them, except that they’re pretty awesome.  I love anything you can customize at will, so you can always change things up if you get bored.  You can get them on amazon, or at  I just sized some pictures in MS Paint (the best art application ever) and printed the pictures at CVS – so easy to create something cool.

Skkra recommends… xpad! is where you’ll find this awesome product. If you use a laptop, check it out.

The xpad is a little nonslip surface that you can sit your laptop on. A lot of times, if you’re using your laptop on your couch or lap, you’re blocking off the vents on the bottom. This means the components inside can’t get enough air, and they’ll eventually suffer problems due to the heat.

The xpad solves this issue by not only providing a heat shield for your lap, and a steady platform for your laptop, but it raises it up about 1/4 of an inch, allowing plenty of air to get to the bottom of the machine. The xpad comes in many sizes and it’s inexpensive. If you don’t have one and use a laptop on your lap, it’s time to make the investment. I’ve had mine for easily 5+ years now, and it’s still in the same great shape as the day I bought it.
